Passenger rights in the EU
Effective from piątek 6 listopada 2026. Early-access version. English text.
This is a short overview. The text of the regulations and your carrier’s conditions are decisive. The carrier is responsible, not us, but we are glad to help you file a claim.
Air travel (Regulation (EC) No 261/2004)
- On denied boarding, cancellation and arrival delay of 3 hours or more you may be entitled to €250 (up to 1,500 km), €400 (1,500 to 3,500 km, or over 1,500 km within the EU) or €600 (over 3,500 km). This does not apply in extraordinary circumstances the carrier could not avoid.
- On delayed departure and cancellation you are entitled to care: refreshments, and accommodation and transfer where needed. And a choice between a refund and re-routing.
- You must know the operating carrier in advance (Regulation (EC) No 2111/2005). We show it on every flight.
- Persons with disabilities and reduced mobility are entitled to assistance (Regulation (EC) No 1107/2006). Tell the carrier about your needs as early as possible.
Rail travel (Regulation (EU) 2021/782)
- For a delay of 60 to 119 minutes you are entitled to 25% of the fare, from 120 minutes to 50%.
- If a delay of over 60 minutes is expected you may choose a refund, continuation or re-routing. You are entitled to information and care.
Coach travel (Regulation (EU) No 181/2011)
- On journeys over 250 km, if the service is cancelled or leaves more than 120 minutes late, you are entitled to continuation, re-routing or a refund.
- On journeys over 3 hours, on cancellation or delayed departure, you are entitled to refreshments and in some cases accommodation.
Where to turn
First complain to the carrier and keep proof. If you are not satisfied, contact the national enforcement body of the country where the event happened. In the Czech Republic these are the Civil Aviation Authority for air and the Railway Authority for rail.
